When Angry Makes Me Happy

I just started rehearsals for a show I'm doing with the Fringe this week. I'm kind of ashamed I haven't told y'all about it till now! It's called "All Rights Reserved: A Libertarian Rage," presented by my friend phillip's company Maximum Verbosity. I'm enjoying my involvement because it's a piece of theatre that's making a statement. It's not a subtle statement, but it's a statement nonetheless. And I say the "N" word on stage four times. Not because my character's a racist but because she endeavors to prove that words are only as hurtful as their context. In that particular scene, I really get to show off my angry acting chops - my favorite. Being angry onstage is at the center of what releases me from the stifling chains of non-expression. I don't get a lot out of quiet acting. I like to scream, I like to yell, I like to laugh, and I like to be catty onstage. Maybe because within the confines of a written role expressing my inner psycho is forgiven unconditionally. Please refer to the sidebar, with the brilliant picture of phillip on a cross, for more information.

Already???

One of the hardest decisions for me to make this season, as in the 2007/2008 Fringe Season, in my mind, was to not apply to any Fringes and not do any touring. Of course, upon consultation of my pocketbook, this was a very easy decision to make. I'm sure once the summer rolls around, I'll be fine with it as I'll be working and working on the next show as well as planning 2009's tour (Super Glossy! goes to Canada), but with the Minnesota Fringe Lottery right around the corner, I can't help but feel like I may have missed an opportunity. Meh. It's not like Rockstar Storytellers didn't apply! The lottery is this coming Monday eve and here is the gorgeously designed header of the flyer:

How beautiful is that? I love the colors, the fonts, I'm a little iffy on the light gray dots, but I love everything else about it.

BTW, here's the latest Rockstar Storytellers show in photos, by the awesome Erika M. Loen.

And here's a picture, by Erika, of me, obviously partaking in the whiskey a leeeeeetle too much:
